GOD IS THE GIVER
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming
down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows,” (James 1:17, NIV)
God has blessed my husband and I in many ways. We have a
nice home on a quiet street, good health insurance, Todd has a good job, and I am able to stay at home and be a housewife.
These are great blessings from God! However, one of God’s blessings we are most thankful for, besides each other, is
our dogs, Francy and Jacob. Francy is a Dalmatian, and Jacob is a mixed-breed. Both are outside dogs, weighing over fifty
pounds each.
Why do we love our dogs? First of all, they are always glad
to see us. When I am home during the day, I go outside to visit my dogs. I know, without a doubt, that they will be glad to
see me! They love to lick my face and wag their tails, and let me give them each a backrub with my long fingernails. My dogs
love me unconditionally. Their love is not based on my outward appearance, or how good or bad I smell, or how smart I am,
but simply because I love them and shower much love and attention on them, and they love me back.
Isn’t that the way our relationship with God is? He
loves us unconditionally (Psalms 139). We don’t have to put on any airs to be in God’s presence; He accepts us
just the way we are. We can go to Him anytime, night or day, clothed in the righteousness of Christ, and be accepted immediately
into His presence (Hebrews 4:16).
Do you take advantage of this wonderful relationship we have
with our Heavenly Father? Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ? If so, you are extremely blessed! You have
the Lord to lean on for strength; God’s promises to trust in for assurance, and God’s presence to accompany you
throughout life. And then, of course, God’s promise to spend eternity with Him (Psalm 23:6).
Dear Jesus: Thank you for Your promise of eternal
life to all those who trust in You. Thank you for accepting us unconditionally. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
