"… and surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:20)

Since I relapsed with CFIDS four years ago, my husband, Todd, has had to make several trips to his parents’ home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, alone. I have been unable to travel with him, most of the time, due to my low energy level and other symptoms.

The last time he left, it was a Friday morning, and I was feeling rather depressed about being left behind. After he left, I sat down in my usual spot on the couch, feeling pretty low. As I looked out my window, I saw a cross in the sky formed by two skywriters. I was amazed! Being one who enjoys the outdoors, I had seen many airplane markings in the sky before, but never in the shape of a cross.

It was as if Jesus was reminding me that He was with me; that I was not forgotten. I immediately remembered His words when He said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you," (Hebrews 13:5), and I was able to trust in Him, knowing He was with Me, and I was not alone. I even enjoyed the day!

When my husband came home that evening, I told him about seeing the cross in the sky. He thought it was really neat also! Does God give us visible reminders that He loves us and has not forgotten us? Absolutely! We have the cross, His Word, the Holy Spirit, other Christians and prayer, to name a few of the things He has given us to remind us of His presence with us. As Christians, let us never forget that Jesus is near!

Dear Father, we love You and praise You. You are a Great and Mighty God! Thank You for Your presence that is always with us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
